THE Davao Football Association (DFA) 4th Grassroots Course and Festival will kick off at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Ma-a Central Elementary School.
DFA secretary general Erwin Protacio, in an e-mail to Sun.Star Davao, said the GCF will feature a two-day theoretical and practice session for coaches and teachers.
A one-day festival and clinic for children aging six to 12, meanwhile, will kick off on August 25 at 8 a.m. at the same venue as a culminating event for the GCF.
DFA women's committee member Rachelle "Ching" Delos Reyes and grassroots development officer Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon will conduct the coaches' and teachers' course.
Protacio added they are expecting to have 60 trainers and coaches for the theoretical and practices sessions while 500 kids are expected to participate in the festival and clinic.
In the 3rd GCF held at the Catalunan Grande Elementary School recently, 367 players participated while 59 coaches and trainers joined the two-day course.
The GCF is organized in partnership with Philippine Football Federation, Department of Education and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
It is backed by Davao City third district congressman Isidro T. Ungab, University of the Philippines Mindanao, Medvil Farms and Barangay Catalunan Grande. (RPSA)
