Kasibulan football launched, festival slated on Saturday

THE Davao Football Association (Davao FA) launched the Kasibulan Football Grassroots Development Program over the weekend at the Mintal Elementary School field.

Davao FA general secretary Erwin Protacio, in an e-mail to Sun.Star Davao said, "The program is implemented through a grassroots course and festival (GCF) that is a two-day theoretical and practical session for coaches and a one-day clinic/festival for kids."

The two-day theoretical and practical session for coaches attracted some 60 coaches from different private and public schools as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with Davao FA grassroots instructor Rachelle delos Reyes.

Delos Reyes, in text messages to Sun.Star Davao, said she taught the coaches on basic ball mastery, dribbling, passing and shooting.

She added, "Ang pinaka-goal gyud kay malingaw ang mga bata para madevelop ilang passion for football (The goal is for kids to have so their passion for football grows)."

Some 500 kids from different football clubs and schools in Tugbok District are expected to join the one-day clinic and festival that will kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The festival will feature small sided games, individual drills, parlor games, and presentations from the Mintal Elementary School Band and Cherifer Vitamins.

Davao City-based national team players the likes of U14 Little Azkals team captain Darius Joseph Diamante and Javier Romero-Salas, U13 national girls team mainstays Moira Calizo, Bea de Luna, Joannah Adao, Patricia Francisco and Joyce Semacio.

The program will also be held in different venues in the city for the following months including Calinan on July 21, 22 and 28, Tionko football field on August 4, 5 and 11, Ma-a on August 18, 19 and 20, Toril on September 1,2 and 8 and Lasang on Sept. 15, 16 and 22.

The program is backed by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., The Department of Education (Deped), Barangay Mintal, University of the Philippine Mindanao, Cherifer Vitamins, Office of third district congressman Isidro T. Ungab and Medvil Farms. (RPSA)
