FOUR times a bridesmaid is no longer enough for the University of Southern Philippines Foundation as they try to break the runner-up curse and win the championship title of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football tournament this year.
Head coach Eleazar Toledo started this by tapping some of the most talented kids.
He admits, it will be an uphill battle for USPF as half of the squad are new players and are mostly freshmen but he is open to the challenge.
Toledo said these players know how to play but they need to be trained to get used to the system he introduced.
“Nangapa pa ang mga bata. We went back to the basics because there are a lot of things to work on like technical, mental and physical skills. But once they adapt to the system, then we are good to go,” he said.
Toledo added he also pressured the senior players left in the starting lineup like Aljohn Armamento Jhepuneh Pelano, Albert Tejas, and Lupito Tumulak to help out the new ones.
