Trimaxi-Agro FC posted a back-to-back victory last Sunday and gave the defending champion Ceres FC its first defeat in the ongoing North Football League (NFL) 2012 played at the Ayala North Point football pitch in Talisay City.
Tri-maxi scored a 2-nil upset over the more favored Ceres FC on goals from Troy Fegidero and FJ Serios.
Fegidero scored in the 11th followed by Serios in the 39th to close the first half, 2-nil.
Ceres tried to bounce back but failed to nail a goal.
“We had a bad game. And that happens in football,” Ceres’ Head Coach Norman Fegidero said.
Meanwhile, last conference’s runner-up Dynamic Builders FC defeated Las Buenas FC (LBFC), 9-1 to share the top spot with Ceres.
Ziggy Tonog led the Builders with 3 goals while Jason Panhay and Dominique Segaya scored 2 goals apiece.
Panhay opened Dynamic’s offense and successfully scored his team’s first goal in the 7th minute followed by Ian Treyes in the 9th minute and Tonog in the 11th minute of the match. With 4 minutes remaining before the halftime whistle sounded, Segaya nailed the Builders’ fourth goal while Chepet Salido struck LBFC’s first goal in the 40th minute to close the first half, 4-1.
But in the second half, Dynamic remained offensively focused as the team nailed five more goals in the later part of the game.
Segaya scored his second goal in the 62nd minute followed by Tonog’s consecutive goals in the 67th and 69th minutes. Jamie Poderoso then joined the scoring tally with his goal in the 73rd minute as Panhay sealed the match with a goal in the 75th minute.
Dynamic’s victory put LBFC still winless in the tournament.
On the other match, the young Silver Dragon FC drew with Real Negrense FC, 1-all.
Veteran William Claour booked Real Negrense’s first and only goal in the early 5th minute of the game but Francis Rebacca equalized the scoreboard with a goal in the 30th minute.
