QCU to hold tryouts, draws Agila

QUEEN City United will work on becoming a stronger team for the next United Football League season as they open for tryouts starting this Thursday until Saturday at the Aboitiz football field.

Having had to deal with a shortage of players the entire season, after players baile out on matches because of their unavailability, the team will now work on getting new players that will beef up the squad.

“Our lineup is depleted and from 24 players, we’re now down to 18,” said head coach Mario Ceniza.

This will also coincide with the team’s plan of creating a formidable squad in the UFL season and the Smart-Club championships.

For the tryouts, Ceniza said players should come physically fit as he doesn’t want to entertain players who apply unprepared.

“Prior to the tryout, they should already have practiced and trained well, not practice during the day of the tryout. I will look particularly at their footwork,” he added.

Meanwhile, QCU closed its UFL campaign with a scoreless draw over Agila FC at the University of Makati.

It was the last game of the club for the UFL Division 2 but two games prior to this match, it already cemented its third place finish.

“We expected to make it in the top four but we ended up in third place, which is a good bonus for the team,” said Ceniza.
