THE Philippine Under-14 team bagged third place in the Japan-East Asean Football Exchange Program U-14 Youth Football Festival yesterday in Osaka, Japan.
After playing against Japan and Singapore, the Little Azkals ended the tournament with two wins, one draw and two losses.
They were defeated by Japan, 4-0, and had a 0-0 draw against Singapore.
“Lig-on jud ang Japan pero okay ra bisag pildi me sa Japan but we have a lot of chances na pwede sana mag change sa game,” said Little Azkals head coach Oliver Colina.
The Little Azkals finished behind host country Japan, who topped the standings with 13 points and Indonesia with 11 points.
Malaysia came in fourth followed Singapore and Brunei.
The kids will be touring around Japan today while they are set to watch a game in the J-League this Satuday. The team will arrive in Cebu on June 25.
The Japan tournament will be the last of the international events the team will be joining before the players will take a break before they return to their respective schools.
But a friendly game against a Malaysian Club is being planned for November and if plans push through, they will have three games in Manila, Dumaguete and Cagayan de Oro.
