THE new Cebu Football Association board finally received the blessing of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) after a month of waiting.
This after the PFF dismissed an election-related protest lodged at the PFF office that forced it to discuss the matter before recognizing the newly-elected members of the CFA board.
In a letter from PFF Secretary General Atty. Roland Tulay dated last Monday, PFF now recognizes the new set of officers.
“This is good news because, finally, the issue on Cebu board has been settled,” said CFA secretary general Joey Herrera.
The PFF also disclosed the name of the signatory of the complaint that questioned the legality of the CFA election last March 30. This forced the PFF to refer the matter over to the membership and legal committee for further investigation.
It was also in the letter that the PFF finally disclosed the complainant.
The protest was filed by Don Bosco Magone FC represented by Eugene Ynclino IV and Don Bosco Technological Center represented by Claudith Zapanta and University of San Jose Recoletos Alumni represented by Rommel Ramirez, filed on April 21 and May 28, respectively.
Complainants objected the certain procedures were not followed and claimed that it was “unconstitutional based on CFA by-laws” and asked the PFF to declare the election null and void.
“We don’t have any hard feelings toward them. They were only exercising their rights.
The issue has been resolved now and we won’t hold it against them because after all, we’re all for the development of Cebu football,” said Herrera.
